Janet's Entry February 15, 2009

The following pictures are of a slum school that a BYU student by the name of Seth Call has contributed to. He had called us to see if we could go check on some of the organizations he has given money to and to see if they looked like they are still legitimately in business.
We had quite the time finding this little school as Fred had forgotten to bring the address. He just sort of new the general area. We got into a really poor area where there weren't even bicycle rickshaws. Later everybody freaked out and told us that was really a dangerous thing to do. The two of us going into an area like that in just an autorickshaw not knowing where we were going for sure and being Americans to boot.
Anyway the head lady at the school was a most gracious lady and the school had the most beautiful spirit about it. It was just an old shell of a building, and most rooms had no desks, tables, or chairs, but all of the artwork on the walls, stairs, and floors had been done by the students. I think the head mistress of the school said there are around fifty such schools in India. Maybe there are more.
We loved the experience of the whole thing anyway and we saw some awesome sights.
