These are a group of star struck missionaries after seeing a fashion show that just bowled us over. We were invited by San San Nu to attend and all the men were dragging their feet thinking it was going to be like the old 4-H fashion shows they had seen when they were kids. It was at the women's polytechnic school that I teach music at. We were never so surprised in our lives. This was the most professional fashion show any of us had ever seen in our lives. They even asked me to be a judge and I felt very humbled. Some of the outfits were a little skimpy for missionaries to be looking at, but all in all it was just glorious. Now I feel really dumb about going in to teach music after seeing the high quality of product these students are able to produce. All of the clothes were designed and made by the women at the school. There were fifteen different designers and five models for each designer. That's seventy-five models, each with a different costume.
They had T.V. and newspaper reporters there, and one of the sisters said she was so worried that they would get a picture of her husband with his jaw dropping down to his knees and it would show up in the paper.
After the show the owner of the school, a muslim lady who hasn't allowed Christians in her school before, invited us all to a nice luncheon in her office. At the fashion show we were all seated right on the front row next to the runway. It was so great. The pictures just don't do it justice.
