There are about four layers of apartments above us. To get to them you have to up some steep marble steps. I thought our area's apartments were going to be different than most of the apartments we have visited but the stairs anyway are just the same. It's no wonder most of the people here are so thin. You get a lot of exercise just trying to survive.
The second picture is of a beautiful flowering plant I bought from a vendor but I think all of the plants I bought need more light as most of them are dying.
I was taking a picture of this vegetable tray and I inadvertently got some of the Elders in it. From left to right they are Elders Sarver, Swanboroough, Ott, and Smith. The bottom two are Elder Walker and Elder Hansen. I have all the missionaries over on Thursdays. You can see Elder Walker's bandaged hand. He's the one that got bitten by a neighbor dog and the dog has since bitten another woman. We passed the dog on our way to a Family Home Eveniong Seminar tonight. We made a very wide circle around him.

I've been promising pictures of our apartment so here they are. We are very blessed to have this nice place to live. Notice the maps on the hallway wall. It just wouldn't be homey without them. Check out the geezer high on the wall in the kitchen. It's what heats the kitchen water. If I don't remember to turn it on one half hour before I need hot water I'll have to heat water on the stove because there won't be any from the tap. This mission is a real glorified camping trip. Most of the time we don't have running water so we have to haul it and we have to light a match to turn our gas stove on, and our bed is so hard it feels like we're sleeping on a thin foam pad on the ground. Notice the water spray coming out the back of the toilet. This is in case you don't have or want to use toilet paper. Our washing machine and refrigerator are tiny but all the other missionaries say they are big compared to theirs. Something interesting about the washing machine is that I have to stick the drain hose down into the toilet for the water to drain. I didn't know that at first and I was trying it catch the water in buckets and pour it down the sink. That was a real tricky and time consuming job. Finally I got the toilet thing figured out and it has been a real time and back saving invention.
In our market we see some of the freakiest sights. This woman has dumped her wheat out right onto the road with no canvas or protection under it. This has got to be the dirtiest place ever with all the cow, dog, bird, mouse, and rat manure, trash, pee, spit, etc., etc. I took the first picture early in the day and later that afternoon she was still at the same spot working on the wheat. You have to search through the picture to find her. I took the second shot at a different angle.
